Bhumi-Shilp sub-plan pertains to land improvement for increasing farm productivity. Under this, assistance is provided to obtain optimum production from fertile land and to turn waste lands into cultivable. Under it, farm embankment or boundary mound works are carried out under land development. This prevents soil erosion and helps in-situ preservation of required contents in the soil. Embankment or boundary mound facilitates availability of adequate nutrients in agricultural land that results in higher production. By constructing farm embankments under Bhumi-Shilp sub-plan greater benefits are ensured to the farmers without cost escalation.
